This shocking photo shows a beautiful Red-tailed Hawk struck down by rat poison. This hawk died because she ate a poisoned rodent.
We need AB 2596, a new bill by California Assemblymember Richard Bloom, to prevent more deaths like this one!

Current legislation and restrictions on rat poisons (rodenticides) don't go far enough to protect wildlife.
How do we know? WildCare's rodenticide testing data show there has been a 5% INCREASE in the incidence of secondary poisoning among animals that eat rodents since new regulations were put in place in 2015!
In 2013 - 2014, 86% of tested wildlife patients had rat poison in their blood. 5% died from it. But from January 2015 to date, 91% of tested patients are shown to have these deadly poisons in their systems!
Current laws, while a great step, are not strong enough. AB 2596 not only expands the ban on the use of rat poisons to the ENTIRE STATE, it increases the scope to also include products containing bromethalin, a neurotoxin that, according to our data, kills 71% of the non-target wildlife that come in contact with it.
